Mossyrock School District Receives Major State Grant Support for Facility Improvements and Recovery Efforts
Mossyrock School District is pleased to announce the award of a $769,000 grant through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) to assist with costs associated with gym repair and recovery efforts following this yearβs significant facility challenges.
This funding represents an important step forward for the district as it continues addressing the impacts of the failed gym trusses and works to restore safe, functional spaces for students, staff, and the community.
In addition to the gym repair funding, the district has also secured approximately $1.1 million in grant funding to replace multiple HVAC systems across the district. These upgrades will improve energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and overall comfort in school buildings while helping preserve district resources for years to come.
The district is also actively pursuing an additional $6 million grant opportunity aimed at supporting several major improvement projects, including:
Β· Replacement of the elementary school roof
Β· Improved safety fencing
Β· Enhanced student drop-off and pick-up areas
Β· Additional campus safety and infrastructure improvements
District leadership emphasized that these investments reflect ongoing efforts to improve facilities while positioning schools for the future.
Receiving these grants is tremendous news for our district and community. These funds will allow us to address critical infrastructure needs and continue moving forward despite the many challenges we have faced this year.
While the funding announcements are encouraging, district officials note that significant challenges still remain ahead. The district continues planning for another school year without a junior high gym, adjustments related to ongoing construction projects, limited parking availability, and the lack of adequate, well-configured spaces.
Although this funding provides meaningful progress, we recognize that recovery and transition work is still ongoing. Our staff, students, and community have shown incredible resilience, and we remain committed to working together through the next phases of construction and improvement.β
The district would like to express appreciation to OSPI, state partners, staff, and community members for their continued support throughout a difficult but productive year.
